The Flying Fortress Interchange is nearing completion, and we’re getting ready to celebrate a project nearly 50 years in the making! Join us on October 5 as we officially open the Flying Fortress Interchange and the new parkway connection to Airway Avenue.

 

B-17 Comes to Kingman for Flying Fortress Parkway Ribbon Cutting

 

Kingman, Arizona – The Aviation Heritage Center of Kingman is sponsoring a B-17, Sentimental Journey, to fly into the Kingman Municipal Airport in celebration of the Flying Fortress Parkway ribbon-cutting ceremony. The ribbon cutting is hosted by the City of Kingman and will take place on the north side of Interstate 40 at the Flying Fortress Parkway exit. There is a planned flyover of the B-17 at the time of the ribbon cutting.

 

This long-awaited interchange will ultimately connect Interstate 40 directly to the Kingman Municipal Airport and Industrial Park, leading to further economic development opportunities for the City of Kingman.

 

The public is invited to view the aircraft, which will be on display at the Kingman Municipal Airport, on Sunday and Monday before the ribbon cutting, as well as after the event. In addition to Sentimental Journey, more WWII aircraft and vehicles will be on display.

 

Sentimental Journey is currently one of three operational B-17s in the United States.

Sunday, October 4

-          Sentimental Journey arrives at Kingman Municipal Airport

 

Monday, October 5

-          11:30 AM: Flying Fortress Parkway ribbon-cutting ceremony and Sentimental Journey flyover

 

-          Aircraft ground tours and rides available for purchase through the Arizona Commemorative Air Force
RESERVATIONS FOR RIDES STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

 

Tuesday, October 6

-          Sentimental Journey departs Kingman Municipal Airport
